It’s all relative.

In Uncategorized on 27/01/2011 at 19:41

It’s all relative. A sentence I first heard in the hit-series Generation Kill, a.k.a. the best military series to ever hit your television screen, a show about the first recon marines of the United State Marine Corps entering Iraq in a couple of open top humvees trying to get to conquer Iraq.
Now during their trip they were accompanied by a Rolling Stone journalist who was… well afraid of almost everything. At a certain moment the recon is taking heavy fire and the journalists decides to dodge behind a while. A lieutanant named Nate Fick walks up to him and tells the journalist that right now the journalist is dodged behind a wheel making it impossible for him to get hit by a bullet so that makes Iraq a save country for the journalist at that given moment. Walking away and screaming it’s all relative.

Now these couple of words are able to be used in almost every situation.
Your regular Boeing 747 is big but compared to a Antonov 225 it’s a pretty small plane.
Saying that you are starving once you haven’t had dinner at 8 o’clock thinking about millions of people around the globe who haven’t eaten in days.

Now I can write down a lot more of these examples but I won’t I will just tell you that next time something happens just think. It’s all relative

A goal has got a goalkeeper!

In Uncategorized on 13/01/2011 at 19:06

A goal has got a goalkeeper. It’s a line that has been going round in my head for the past couple of days. I read it somewhere on the internet in a text which would explain why you would be able to score a girl who has also got a boyfriend. A goal has got a goalkeeper though that doesn’t mean you can’t score.
This might sound cheesy and it exactly is but since it has been going trough my mind for some time I kept thinking about it and started to see that sentence not as some cheesy line but as a sentence that means something.
Cause with everything we do in life we face obstacles some bigger, some smaller, some tougher and some pretty easy. Just like there is a goalkeeper in the path of Louis Suarez every time he wants to score. Some bigger, some smaller, some tougher some easier.
Obstacles can be a lot of different things it could be your exam or trying to get that one girl that absolutely makes your head spin round. Every time we face an obstacle we work on getting past that obstacle we don’t really care how as long as we get past it. Just like Dirk Kuyt.
Sometimes we don’t succeed and we fail. We run towards the goal keeper and we miss the goal. The ball might go way past or get stopped by the goalkeeper cause you shoot just 5 cm to low like Arjen Robben did while facing Igar Cassilas.
Some of those misses influence a lot of people or have a lot of consequences. Just like the penalty Assamoah Gyan missed in the Semi finals. And some misses might be very small and not important at all like the miss of Eljero Elia while the Dutch were already ahead.
The only thing you’ve got to remember is that misses aren’t always bad. Sure the hurt emotionally or physically like Dirk Kuyt’s bicycle kick. But they will make you stronger in the long run.
So get yourself ready for the world cup final of 2014 The Netherlands-Ghana. Ghana scores trough a penalty. Dirk Kuyt scores with a Bicycle kick and Arjen Robben runs towards Ghana’s goalie in the last minute and….

Most wonderfull time of the year!

In Uncategorized on 06/01/2011 at 23:34

Yes ladies and gentleman it’s the most wonderful time of the year again. Now you probably think I’m a little too late for the most wonderful time of the year but no I’m not because to me January is on of the most wonderful times of the year.
See december is only about three things; food, being social an gifts. Now I don’t say I have anything against shopping or buying things. Just the only thing I don’t like is being forced to buy things during December all for some day that should bring peace and hope to the entire world. I’m not a christian nor am I raised that way but aren’t we missing the whole point of christmas? The birth of Jesus? Or have we as citizens of this world forgotten about that and are we seeing christmas more as one of those days in the year were you have to be polite to each other and have to visit your family? Is christmas something like an excuse to be polite and to visit your family?
I don’t like fake at all. Why can’t you just come visit me or bring me a present if you want to on a total different day lets say the 20th of july?
See and that’s why I think January is the most wonderful time of the year. Not because of the freezing cold or the snow that has either became some muddy grey thing or has disappeared but still making roads as slippery as a curling rink.
And it’s also not because everybody is working out in the gym to get in shape for summer after christmas and new years eve.
No I like this time of the year because everybody starts to act normal again not very social from time to time, not stressed out any more and of course done with all the family dinners.
And this is also the reason why I’ve just spend christmas in Israel where you can hardly tell by the looks of shops that it is christmas time.
Take that Santa!!
